PHOTO 101: October Session

PHOTO 101 {with a twist} - This class is a COVER EVERYTHING class for photographers who would eventually like to shoot professionally, or have the ability to. We will cover basic to advanced levels in shutter, aperture, white balance, zoom vs. fixed lens techniques, posing, how to capture a candid, portraits, and back lighting. This class will have 4 sessions, one being a Q and A photography shoot with 2 Professional Photographers. This is a great refresher course for the experienced, as well as, a great starting point for the novice photographer. We will cover everything under the photography umbrella.

Come learn how to really control your camera to get the shots that you want.

What do I need?

The basic requirement is a camera that has the capacity to set aperture and shutter speed manually. However, if you have a digital SLR that would rock! Bring a notepad and pen, and come prepared with questions you want to have answered.

Where and When can I jump on board?

Classes will be held in North Orem, UT, with the exception of the bonus shooting workshop.

The dates of the classes are October 6, 13, 20 and the 27th.

Classes start at 7:30pm and run about 90 minutes. The final class will be held as a shooting workshop. The shooting workshop will be held at an on-site location and will be announced during the class.

What is the cost?

Tuition for PHOTO 101 is $100. A non-refundable deposit of $50 is due at the time you sign up for the class to retain your seat. The remainder of the amount is due one week before class begins. In order to give you a more in-depth experience we have decided to keep the class size to 8 seats. Only 8 students may register for each class, so sign up today.

Lighting Workshop - the Results

We had another great lighting workshop tonight here in Pleasant Grove. I love shooting around PG and finding its hidden treasures for photography locations. Thanks to all who came and made it a roaring fun time. And thanks even more to our awesome models. I'm always amazed at the things we end up talking about, and even more amazed that the models don't just get up and walk out. You guys were great!

NOTE: I'll be teaching an additional lighting workshop in the next two weeks to make up for a few things we missed. If you want in, email me. I'll have a date posted pretty soon. This will be my last lighting workshop this year (that is, unless I suddenly have suprising chunks of free time).

Thanks,

Erin

Photoshop Basics

You asked. And here it is!

Photoshop Basics

Let me be the first to say that Photoshop is difficult, annoying, make you want to scream, and pull our your hair, FRUSTRATING. I know. I've been at it for the last 2 years. So besides learning the ins and outs of photography, you want to know how to make your pictures POP. This is the class for you.

What: Learn the basics of Photoshop - Layers, Layer Masks, Sharpening Shots, Smoothing Skin, Popping Eyes, Enhancing Texture, Saturating Colors and More.

When: (There's a lot to learn so this is a two session class.)

Thursday, September 17th and September 24th from 6:30 to 8:30pm

Supplies: You must have a laptop with CS4 or CS3 of Photoshop loaded on it. Your version of Photoshop must be up and running before the class starts. Plan on bringing a power cord in case your battery dies.

Tuition: $55 for both classes

Enrollment: Due to a booked fall season, I am not sure when I'll teach another Photoshop class. That in mind, I am capping this class at 5 students. A smaller class means I'll be able to answer more questions and really teach in-depth. It is my hope that everybody who takes this class will walk away with a firm understanding of Photoshop and be able to ROCK their photos. Because I have received quite a few emails of interest in this type of class I will just be basing enrollment off of first come first serve. If you are interested, please email or call right away, my last class filled within just a couple days. You will need to send in tuition to secure your spot.

Note: As always, once you take a workshop from me, you are welcome to email any question you have concerning that workshop. I do my best to answer emails within a few days of receiving them. Also, given extra space I may have in upcoming workshops that you have previously enrolled in, you are welcome to attend for free.

In case you were wondering: The first picture on the header is SOC (Straight out of the Camera) and the second and third are examples of techniques we will learn in this class.
